The Tenggol Season
Tenggol Island operates on a clear seasonal calendar driven by the northeast monsoon. The island is open to visitors roughly from March to October, and effectively closes for the rest of the year.
Planning around this window is essential — outside the open season, boat transfers stop and accommodation and dive operators shut down.

The Monsoon Closure
From around November to February, the northeast monsoon brings strong winds, heavy rain and rough seas to Malaysia's east coast. During this time Tenggol is largely inaccessible and most businesses close for the season.
Peak vs Shoulder Season
The mid-year months of June to August are the peak, with the best visibility and warmest water — but also the most visitors. For a quieter trip with still-excellent conditions, consider the shoulder months of April, May and September.
